Biomechanical Analysis

Biomechanical gait analysis is the study of human movement as we run. In sport, this is commonly performed by sport scientists and physiotherapists to help improve performance or to reduce injury by correcting dysfunction and maximising our strengths.

As part of the Trinamics Running Package you will receive:

  • Biomechanical gait analysis:

This assessment is a slow-motion analysis of your running gait, performed by a physiotherapist. You will be filmed using a high-speed digital camera and then analysed in slow-motion with specialist software to highlight strengths and weaknesses in your gait pattern.
  • Functional movement analysis:

As part of your biomechanical analysis you will be undertake a functional movement analysis (FMA). You physiotherapist will assess how effectively you can perform a series of whole body movements in order to highlight any areas of reduced strength or control which may be detrimental to your running. Along with the biomechanical gait analysis, the FMA will help your physiotherapist create a bespoke strength and conditioning programme

Human Performance Analysis

Human performance analysis is undertaken to assess your baseline fitness levels. The information on your current fitness levels is then used to develop a bespoke training programme and will help set your various training intensities.

As part of your package we will complete two human performance analysis retests. This will allow you to monitor your improvement and ensure we are making good progress with regards to maximising your performance. Your human performance analysis retests will either be completed by our sports scientists, physiotherapists or your coach.

The human performance analysis will consist of:

2.1 Lactate threshold (LT) testing:

This is to assess your aerobic capacity by monitoring the rise in lactic acid levels in your blood as you exercise.

2.2 Functional threshold pace (FTP):

Measurement of your pace in mph at lactate threshold.

2.3 Threshold heart rate (THR)

This is your heart rate (bpm) at lactate threshold.
