Biomechanical Analysis


Biomechanical Analysis

Biomechanical analysis is the study of human movement. In sport, this is commonly performed by sport scientists and physiotherapists to help improve performance by improving the efficiency of movement, or to reduce injury by correcting dysfunction.

As part of the Trinamics Duo Package you will receive:

  • Biomechanical running analysis:

    This analysis is a slow-motion analysis of your running gait undertaken by a physiotherapist. You will be filmed using a high speed digital camera which will be analysed it in slow-motion to highlight strengths and weaknesses in your running technique. Based on this analysis you will be provided coaching tips and exercises on how to fine tune your gait pattern.
  • Biomechanical cycling analysis:

    The biomechanical cycling analysis includes a Bike-fit: The analysis helps to ensure you are getting the most out of you bike and not putting your body under excessive strain we will perform a tailored bike fit. This involves tailored analysis of your current bike set-up by a physiotherapist with extensive knowledge of cycling performance and injury risk factors. Specialist software will be used to measure various dynamic joint angles to ensure that your bike is set-up is correct, if it is not we will correct it for you.
  • Functional movement analysis:

    During the above assessments you will be undertake a functional movement analysis (FMA). You physiotherapist will analyse how efficiently you can perform a series of structured movements and if you lack strength or control in any areas which may be detrimental to your cycling or running. The FMA will help inform your physiotherapist with the information they need to create a strength and conditioning programme for you.

Human Performance Analysis

Baseline human performance analysis is undertaken to measure your current fitness levels. This information on your current fitness levels will be used to develop a bespoke duathlon training programme and will indicate your training intensities.

As part of your package we will complete two human performance analysis retests. This will allow you to monitor your improvement and ensure we are making good progress with regards to maximising your performance. Your human performance analysis retests will either be completed by our sports scientists, physiotherapists or your coach.

As part of your human performance analysis you will receive:

2.2 Functional threshold power (FTP)

Measurement of your power output (watts) at lactate threshold whilst cycling

2.4 Threshold heart rate (THR)

This is your heart rate (bpm) at lactate threshold, both running and cycling.

2.1 Lactate threshold (LT) testing

This is to assess your aerobic capacity by monitoring the rise in lactic acid levels in your blood as you exercise.

2.3 Functional threshold pace (FTP)

Measurement of your running pace (mph) at lactate threshold

During the length of your package you will have free access to all of our athlete development workshops. These educational events are delivered by different members of our team and other guest speakers, each hoping to share their knowledge.

MOT Checkup

To ensure that you stay free of injury you will receive an ‘MOT Check-Up’ every 6 months to help screen for any injuries.

MOT’s are 60 minutes in duration and include:

  • Full-body physiotherapy assessment
  • Physiotherapy treatment
  • Home exercise programme

This physiotherapy assessment will highlight any potential injury risks and will help inform your coach if any changes to your training are required.
