Biomechanical assessment for runners By Roberta Cardoso

What is a ‘biomechanical running’ assessment?

A ‘biomechanical running’ assessment is the slow-motion analysis of running technique using a high speed digital camera. Our expert physiotherapists will film your running gait, analyse it in slow-motion and identify any biomechanical inefficiencies and errors in your running technique. In addition to this, our physiotherapists will conduct a Functional Movement Analysis; this is a series of different movements which help to identify mechanical faults that can lead to running injuries.
Based on the information gathered, we will develop a specific training program which will include strength and conditioning, mobility, running cues and running drills. Furthermore, we will provide you with a flash drive containing a copy of your video and training program, which will help to review your progress and show where you can further improve your movement.

Who is the ‘biomechanical running’ assessment for?

The ‘biomechanical running’ assessment is for runners, triathletes and weekend warriors. We specifically look at sports people with niggling injuries and diagnosed injuries, as well runners who are looking to improve their performance.
